Indiana Handshake

For Peter Giza, Chris Quiray and Alex LaCroix Indiana Handshake is a way of life and a great one at that. I had the fortunate chance to meet these guys at a rock and roll bar in New London CT named El "N" Gee club one night and as fate would have it, I have been working closely with this tremendous three piece from Providence RI. So without further ado I give you Indiana Handshake.

A group with all of the energy and passion that rock music is meant to be played with, Indiana Handshake delivers a brand new sound to the New England music scene that showcases the intensity this hard working trio puts into every performance. With a countless number of influences, the IH goal is to create art that doesn’t restrict itself to any singular genre - but rather an original product worthy of calling their own.

Hailing from Southern New England (RI/CT), IH was formed in 2009 by Peter Giza (vocals/bass), Chris Quiray (guitar) and Alex Lacroix (drums/percussion). Their dynamic style and energetic live performances have won over audiences time and time again as they continue to share their love for music.

Taste the music. Breathe it in. Remember, always think outside of the box.

IH.

Providence's Indiana Handshake are no strangers to New London. They've played in town before, gathering a decent following, thanks to their Jeff Buckley-inspired style of rock. Their swooping song structure comes off as a more heart-on-sleeve Dredg at times. Think Recur Occurrence and you'll start to get the picture.

Cherrylips Designs CDNY

I came across Cherrlips Designs or CDNY is it is commonly known by after tweeting about a song titled "Tight Fit" by an indie rock band called "New Young Pony Club". Great urban couture t shirts designs, you might not believe that the owner of this T-shirt design company is all of 20 years old, i was pretty shocked myself to find this out. Well with out any further adue i give you CDNY, Please enjoy.

spacer.gifCherrylips Designs, commonly known as "CDNY", is a New York fashion house founded by designer and artist Jasmine Jamison. In Summer 2007 Jasmine created a t-shirt line called Cherrylips Express in hopes of getting into the fashion industry that she designed and prepared for since she was a child. Prior to starting the label she was a high school graduate working as a freelance graphic artist and personal assistant. Later that year she changed the brand name to something more fitting: Cherrylips Designs, with an aim to create classic, timeless designs.

At first Cherrylips Designs had no objective; the main goal was to create the best products out on the market. But after much pondering Jasmine realized that there were no real luxury brands for young people. In addition, the brands that were popular were either owned by Europeans or designed by older people that were trying to tap into the young market. Thus the concept for CDNY was born: A luxury label designed for young women and by young women; not to mention the brand was born in New York and designed by an American. Half of our design inspiration comes from what we want to have in our closets and the other half comes from the back of our psyche. Our love of detail, originality, exotic fabrics, fur, jewels, diamonds and color influences us. When you hear the name Cherrylips Designs and the term luxury brand together you may not take it seriously but CDNY is not to be taken lightly, we have just as much know-how as the rest.

Cherrylips Designs encourages education, creativity, research, quality, determination and infinite individuality. You only have one life to live so 'Get Your Cake and Eat it Too'. spacer.gif

Dugee F. Buller

For this DMV rapper, I wanted to try something new. The personality that this man, Dugee F Buller, even I couldnt translate into words. So after asking him some questions and having numerous conversations, I decided to let the man with his own language tell you his story in a series of videos, which I have posted below! Enjoy, and catch Dugee tonight on "rip the booth 2" tomorrow at 8pm on @rippedradio. You can click here, he's first so sign on early! ripped radio network Who is Dugee F Buller? Dugee F Buller, born in Cleveland, moved to dc in 88, and then PG in 99 has had quite a life. But the first thing you should know about him is how to spell his name right. D-U-G-E-E. He puts out music more than people change their underwear and each single, mixtape, and his catalog as a whole gives you insight into his life. His music tells what he may not upon first meeting him because if you ask him about his life he'll say, "it's been crazy. I can't explain life, it's life". He thinks he's not social, though others beg to differ, and puts his story into words, music, and beats. Diverse in musical tastes, he grew up listening to Kool Moe D,as his father has a love for it. With a vast interest in music, his influences range from late 60s rock, 70s hard rock, 80s new wave, and punk rock. His favorite group is Run DMC, and although they had longevity, what he lies most about them is their diversity, and love fore performance. Ask dugee and he'll tell you, "I don't want longevity. I put out music because its what I like to do. I don't even like the studio. I love performing. " His hit performances span from his five Mixtapes, and he has an EP on the way. Three of them, dubbed the Coach Sessions, came from his love of coach shoes. On volume two of The Coach Sessions, he did a little harmonizing, but don't call him Drake, "Man, I was doing this back in '08, when niggas wasn't even singing on tracks. The only nigga I knew doing that was Devin the Dude. But yeah I was harmonizing." He may be shy and laid back, but he's no slacker when it comes to putting the word out about his music. For "The Bong Experience", which he released May 09, he tagged his facebook friends, 800 at the time, to 26 different pictures, where he had links for his music. People started hearing it and commenting, and the feedback from performances solidified that this was something that he really wanted to pursue, and has been his most successful work to date. Want to hear more Dugee, just search his name on any of these sites. www.datpiff.com www.reverbnation.com www.bandcamp.com

ITS THE KID GRAMZ, SEV DA PRODUCER, AND VERONICA VIOR

I don't do this much because I'm very critical of music i hear but the kid Gramz is really something u need to be in tune with so get in tune....the story of Gramz is like most that you read about growing up in an urban environment where drugs, gangs, violence, guns and money pretty much go hand in hand but he brings something so different to the table....Holding true to your dreams is almost as hard as achieving them, sometimes the pressure to make it, as well as the obvious obstacles that come with task can often prove daunting. When Gramz (born Frank Javier Colmenares) takes the stage he does so with the ease and expertise of a veteran. He seems more confident and comfortable under these lights than most people are at home. But pressure is nothing new to the 18 year old product of the Projects. His mother raised him and his older brother James(Hood)Bowers, in the Boulder Dr housing in New London. It was there Gramz saw everything the outside world had to offer. From the glamor and gleam of the drug trade and all of its allure. He watched as his brother began to slip further into its clinches ultimately landing James in Corrigan Correctional Facility. Not one to be deterred by obstacles Gramz vowed to his Mother and his incarcerated brother that he would one day afford them a better life. Determined to make his name synonymous with success Connecticut bred artist Gramz is about to embark on yet another trump through tha mix tape circuit with his latest effort "worth tha weight". riding high on the local acclaim that his first two mix tapes garnered (the game needs me vol.1 & 2),which featured widely popular records such as "Be My Lady", "Get Like Me", "Like This, Like That"...etc generating numerous radio spins(jammin 107.7 and Hot93.7) as well as racking up staggering plays on his myspace page(www.myspace.com/itisgramz) But these days he has learned to loath the word "local" "i feel like I owe myself an opportunity to bring my sound to the whole country, not just New London". Gramz has set his sights on a more national stage after catching the attention of famed Miami based faction Slip n Slide Records Gramz has enlisted their own DJ Correlation in breaking his first smash single of his new mix tape, "Get Like Me". A baby faced teen with a glowing smile when asked if his looks hurt or help him, Gramz had this to say "Girls buy albums too, so i figure it cant hurt". Not too many artists today are capable of making sultry records such as "Be My Lady" and without losing credibility from more testosterone fueled tracks like "We Gettin Money" a sinister street anthem. It's that ability to transit so smoothly from one to the other that sets Gramz apart and above most of the artists in any genre. "Hard work is like a second language to me" he says when asked how he has built such a well rounded catalog that boasts about 200 recordings. "I grind." He states enthusiastically, his views on rap are not unlike those of the drug trade. "You don't grind, You don't shine". "Gramz wasn't a word I stumbled across while in search of a stage name" Mr. Colmenares replies When asked for the meaning behind the moniker he goes by "there is alot of meaning behind the title" he goes on, "The word gramz is symbolic of the hustle, it just happens my hustle isn't a street corner my hustle is music, but I'm still sellin Gramz." Gramz would like to tell everybody to "Go for yours, statistics are unreal, I am currently living my dream because I put forth the time and effort to make it happen, not because the numbers worked out in my favor".

SEV THE PRODUCER

Raised in the Bronx, SEV had began his career as an aspiring rapper looking to be the next big thing in the music industry. Strapped with a book full of rhymes and instrumentals, SEV would make demos with his longtime friend DJ L-SMOOTH using 2 turntables and a tape deck. Though this was their only means of recording at the time, they both made the best of what they had.

After completing his demo, he started setting up meetings with different people within the industry to review his music. SEV had noticed he was being given the same feedback from several people in regards to his production. He was being told that he needed to make songs with original beats so that label heads can get a grasp on how he made songs.

With this new information, SEV immediately began to look for producers who could produce original beats for him. Working at a fastfood restaurant earning minimum wage, SEV knew that he was definitely not in the position of acquiring original beats anytime soon because the producers he met were charging outrageous prices.

So that is when he took matters into his own hands and decided to learn how to make beats for himself.

DJ L-SMOOTH gave him a beat making program named Fruity Loops, and told him that this program may help him with his songs if he learned how to use it. He experimented making tracks on his computer with the program L-SMOOTH gave him, and within a matter of days… it was like second nature to him. SEV was making beats like it he was cooking food!

Now it was time to see if the beats he was making were acceptable for people to spit over. So SEV started to hold listening sessions at his house and invited different rappers who lived in his neighborhood to listen to his material. After seeing the positive reactions from the people that he checked out his music he then realized that this wasn’t a part time hobby….but in reality his FUTURE.

While using computer software programs SEV put a lot of time in researching products and music gear that he felt would allow him to increase his sound and skill. So he decided to buy his first MPC 2000xl until he seen the price tag….. After he finalized his options, he used his entire tax refund and bought his first MPC 2000XL and ROLAND JD990 sound module…………… early 2000.

LOL. LISTEN TO ME NOW!
